Tender, versatile shredded chicken perfect as a base for curries, sandwiches, salads, tacos, or wraps. Easy to cook and ideal for quick meals.

Ingredients

  • * 1 whole chicken

  • * 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste

  • * 3 tbsp Light soy sauce

  • * 1 tbsp white vinegar

  • * ½ tbsp black pepper

  • * 1 tsp cumin powder

  • * Salt to taste

  • * * Water as required

Directions

  • Prep the Chicken: Start by thoroughly cleaning the chicken. Remove the skin and let it soak in warm water with ¼ cup of white vinegar for 10-20 minutes to ensure it’s impeccably clean.
  • Get Creative with Cuts: Now, it’s time to get creative. You can either cut the chicken into pieces or leave it whole. Make slits in the chicken to allow those flavorful marinades to penetrate.
  • Marinate to Perfection: Drain the chicken well and place it in a bowl. Pour in the ginger garlic paste, soy sauce, white vinegar, black pepper, cumin powder, and salt. Let the chicken soak up these delightful flavors, ensuring it’s well coated.
  • Heat Things Up: Take a large bottom pan and heat it. Add the marinated chicken and let it simmer until the outer part turns white, infusing the kitchen with an irresistible aroma.
  • Add Water and Cook: Once the chicken starts changing color, add water until it fills the pan or as required. Cover it and let it simmer until the chicken is fully cooked. Ensure there’s no pink flesh left inside – this is your cue that it’s ready.
  • Cool Down and Drain: Remove the pan from the heat and let the chicken cool down. Once cooled, drain the chicken stock. Don’t discard it! You can use this flavorful stock in various other dishes.
  • Shred Away: The final step is the most satisfying. Remove the flesh from the bones and tear it apart, creating beautiful shreds of succulent chicken.
