Ingredients
For the Steak:
* 1/4 kg Steak (Rump, Sirloin, or Topside), cut into 1-inch cubes
* 2 tbsp. ginger garlic paste
* 3 tsp light soy sauce
* 1 tsp vinegar
* 1 tsp black pepper
* 1 tsp jeera (cumin) powder
Additional Ingredients:
* 2 Boiled Potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
* 1 Egg, beaten & seasoned with salt and pepper
* Breadcrumbs for coating
* Oil for deep frying
* Toothpicks
Directions
- For the Steak:
- Start by draining the steak thoroughly and allowing it to air dry or pat it dry with paper towels. Alternatively, you can marinate the steak with a small amount of vinegar for 10 minutes, then drain it. This not only adds flavor but also helps in tenderizing the meat.
- Now, cut it into bite-sized cubes.
- In a bowl, mix together the ginger garlic paste, light soy sauce, vinegar, black pepper, and jeera (cumin) powder.
- Add the steak cubes to the marinade and make sure they’re well coated. Let them soak up the goodness for at least 20 minutes.
- Pressure Cooking:
- After marinating, pressure cook the steak cubes until they’re perfectly cooked.
- Rump Steak: 10-15 minutes
- Sirloin Steak: 8-12 minutes
- Topside Steak: 12-18 minutes
- Once done, take the steak cubes out of the pressure cooker and let them cool.
- For the Potato Cubes:
- Boil the potatoes until they’re tender, then peel and cut them into 1-inch cubes.
- Assembly and Frying:
- Now comes the fun part! Take a cooked steak cube and a boiled potato cube and thread them onto a toothpick, alternating between the two.
- Roll the assembled stick in breadcrumbs until it’s fully coated.
- Dip the coated stick into the beaten and seasoned egg mixture, ensuring it’s well covered.
- Heat up some oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Carefully place the coated steak and potato sticks into the hot oil and fry until they turn a beautiful golden brown and become wonderfully crispy.
- Take them out of the oil and let them drain on a plate lined with paper towels.
